Aquavision has introduced the world’s first HDBaseT connected TV line. The new sets, available in 19-, 22- and 26-inch screen sizes, incorporate a built-in ConnecTV Active module which not only eliminates the need for a separate power cable by utilising up to 60W of power over HDBaseT (PoH) but also delivers Full HD and audio, 100BaseT Ethernet and control when connected to HDBaseT Lite matrix switchers and extenders. Until now, power over Ethernet has typically been used for commercial network applications such as surveillance cameras and wireless access points, which require a smaller current. Integrators can service the screens using a single Category 5E or above cable, for up to 60m.
The launch marks the first time that the industry has seen televisions which take advantage of HDBaseT’s 5Play convergence potential. The brand says its ConnecTV sets will “network with stereos, computers and other CE devices, and access multimedia content including video, pictures and music. Installing these Aquavision TVs couldn’t be easier and can be achieved via a central hub. As many of the other products on the network will also have HDBaseT transmitters built in, connecting them is straightforward…”
Managing director Richard Henton said: “Since Aquavision launched in 1999 we have continually integrated the very best and latest technology into our products, which is why we are tremendously excited to be the first company to introduce HDBaseT ready waterproof and in-wall televisions. HDBaseT offers installers and end users a whole host of new possibilities for the provision of CE and our extensive range of televisions are at the forefront of this next generation of home entertainment,” noted Henton.
Henton said that the installer community has been waiting for a “dependable connectivity solution that can be implemented easily, quickly and economically” to take advantage of the growing demand for Smart TVs and streaming services. “ConnecTV ticks all the boxes,” he said.
The incoming range will be available in Black, polar white and MirrorVision finishes, and feature RS232 connections and infra-red codes to integrate with most home automation systems. Both in-wall heated screens, suitable for installation in bathrooms, showers and wet rooms, and surface mount models (pictured above) will be available. All come with a waterproof remote control and optional speakers.
