Aquavision Unveils the First Commercially-Available HDBaseT Single Wire TV

Display incorporates the Silvertel Power over HDBaseT (PoH) module to enable delivery of 1080p HD signal and power over a single cable

ORLANDO, Fla. – InfoComm 2013 – June 10, 2013 – Aquavision at InfoComm 2013 this week will announce the first commercially-available HDTV that leverages HDBaseT technology to deliver video and power over one cable. InfoComm attendees can see a demonstration of the display at the HDBaseT Alliance booth (#2889).

Powered by the Valens HDBaseT chipset, the HDBaseT 5Play feature set enables whole-home and commercial distribution of uncompressed HD video, audio, controls, Internet and power over a single CAT5e/6 cable. The PoH feature enables the transfer of DC power in conjunction with data signals up to 100 meters. The POH standard enables safe delivery of up to 100 watts (W) over the four-pairs of the Ethernet cable, and solves the common obstacle manufacturers face when developing thinner, lighter wall-mounted TVs that require bulky and complicated companion AC-to-DC power circuitry.

“We design our displays to enable our customers to place them into whatever rooms they want without sacrificing a sense of style, but having to run a tangle of video, audio and power cords can ruin that effect,” said Alastair Benn, technical director, Aquavision. “Now, thanks to HDBaseT, consumers can incorporate an elegant display into their interior design plans, instead of trying to design a room around the display and location of power outlets.”

Two primary advantages of PoH are convenience and cost. POH eliminates the need to place a display near a power outlet, or pay for the cost of hiring an electrician to do the AC wiring.

Aquavision turned to HDBaseT Alliance contributor member Silvertel for the PoH module.

“Providing our technology to Aquavision is precisely why we joined the HDBaseT Alliance: to help accelerate the development and implementation of Power over HDBaseT,” said Gus Pohl, marketing manager, Silvertel. “The combination of our technical expertise and the Aquavision technology makes the benefits of PoH more readily available to consumers.”

Valens introduced the HDBaseT technology in June 2010, and the PoH feature was the most recent addition to the 5Play feature set in September of 2011.

“HDBaseT is the only technology on the market that delivers true all-in-one connectivity to professional and consumer electronics industries,” said Micha Risling, marketing chair of the HDBaseT Alliance. “Aquavision is the first to introduce an HDBaseT-enabled TV that incorporates the entire 5Play feature set, and we expect the flood gates will open in 2013.”

About Aquavision

Aquavision® is the pioneer of bathroom television and has been manufacturing waterproof models since 1997.  However, its televisions are not restricted simply to wet room installations. Many find their way into living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, studies, in fact any room that you would usually have a television. Their simple, “in-wall” design is chosen by designers the world over to get away from the “black box on the wall.”

About the HDBaseT Alliance

Founded by LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Sony Pictures and Valens Semiconductor, the HDBaseT Alliance is comprised of leading cross-industry companies formed to promote and standardize HDBaseT™ technology. The cornerstone of HDBaseT technology is 5Play™, a feature set that converges uncompressed full HD digital video, audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, power over cable and various control signals through a single LAN cable.

Members supporting HDBaseT technology play a pivotal role in defining the future of multimedia transmission and data communication in the consumer electronics and content provider industries. For additional information on HDBaseT Alliance and membership benefits, visit www.HDBaseT.org.
